The Wisdom of Nasrudin
One day Nasrudin found a dervish stealing figs in his Orchard.
As he grabbed the fakir by the neck he shouted:
What do you think you are doing here sheikh?
Nothing wrong, answered the Sufi with insolent confidence.
I am Allah’s loving servant, feeding on the fruit of God’s tree in Allah’s garden.
Is that so, growled Nasrudin and proceeded to beat him with no pity but with a solid wooden stick instead.
Wicked sinner!
screamed the dervish, how do you dare rising your hand upon a saint? Don’t you see what you are doing?
Nothing wrong, replied the Nasrudin,
Just hitting the servant of Allah, with the stick of Allah, under the tree of Allah, to preserve Allah’s garden.

Doctor & author such as Richard Carlson explains that all circumstances we endure are neutral and whether we flourish or fall to pieces in any given circumstance is up to the perception and capacity of the individual to handle the emotions they feel when put in specific circumstances. A metaphor to quantify this: 10 people are standing in a bank when it is held up by an armed robber. While all of the 10 in the bank are subjected to the same 'trauma,' why is it that a few will walk away, unfussed putting it behind them as a bad day, while others have years of struggle overcoming the victim mentality which these circumstances bring to the surface in them.

Which person are you? is the past the past; a harmless group of memories which can do little to harm you?

Or are you the person who lives in fear of your own memories, and past experiences? If you find yourself in the latter category you, will find that the way you treat the past reflects in the way you are today, and will be tomorrow.

The power of now by Eckhart Tolle gives a perspective of handling these "traumatic" events in our past. LET THEM GO! Live in the present moment, the time you are living in right now is the only time that you have the power to change anything around you, the only time you can change your future and the only time to make positive changes in your life. When you live right now and appreciate everything as it is, a new sense of calm and a better future can evolve from within you.

Wherever you go, there you are

hi, I accidentally found this blog. The way you look at things in life, the thoughts, the insight... It inspired and guided me. I believed there's many people out there learned and gained something from your words, is this blog still active? Anyway, this is a great blog.

Hi Adam

I found your blog on the Fred Flinstone Principle while searching for a reference for research i am doing so i can motivate writing why i should show worst practices rather than best practices - one of the reasons is i have read that from an evolutionary perspective we remember mistakes more than we remember sucesses and they (mistakes) also make a bigger imprint in our memory than successes do - this is consistent with your comments, but do you know of other writers, preferably journal articles, that give a theoretical perspective on this?

thanks
